While they were trying to fix the Lexus, another car slammed into the back. The two men standing in front of the car were run over.

The crash closed all eastbound lanes of the Katy freeway near Beltway 8 for several hours.

Both men were taken to Ben Taub Hospital. One is in serious but stable condition. The other man is in critical condition.

The 61-year-old driver behind the wheel passed a sobriety test at the scene. Investigators believe he may have fallen asleep and drifted into the stalled car.
