Police are trying to figure out who is responsible for shooting two young men Wednesday night in southwest Houston.
Police said officers responded to a shots fired call around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday to a house on Magnolia Canyon Way.
"It was just scary, everybody was doing different things, and we heard gunshots and we all ran downstairs," said a cousin of the victim.
When police arrived, they found a teenage boy and a young man shot. Officials said about a dozen rounds were fired from a car that had driven off.
The 16-year-old boy was shot in the chest and the 20-year-old man was shot in the stomach. Both victims were rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious, but stable condition.
"If it could happen right here, and I live right up the street then it could happen to anybody," said Drrati Revada, a friend of one the victims.
Neighbors were on edge Thursday morning, concerned about the drive-by shooting and the safty of their community.
"The kids are usually outside, all the neighbor kids, they are running around playing cops and robbers themselves, so it is pretty scary," said neighbor Veronica Soria.
Police are trying to determine why these young men were targeted.
