Two brothers, one crucial goal, one kick at a time

Hayden and Hudson Yezak are both placekickers; Hayden, a senior for Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball, and Hudson, for Trinity Lutheran School in Spring.

They're not just kicking to help their teams win each week they're kicking to help defeat childhood cancers, a goal close to their hearts.

"Every time I make a field goal, or extra point, money gets donated to Kick It For Cancer, the organization," says Hayden.

The brothers are kicking in honor of family friends who have lost their battles to cancer. Hayden does it especially for Isabelle Nicole.

"She had a lot of fight.  So cute, little girl," Hayden said.  "(Isabelle) Really just kind of influenced me to do this and help little children like that that are going through this."

Hudson followed his big brother's footsteps kicking in the memory of his late schoolmate Jake Hickford.

"He liked sports, and it's sad because he didn't get to live and play sports," Hydson said.  "That's why I'm kind of doing it. Just to do it for them."

Placekickers face a lot of pressure, with games sometimes coming down to one good kick.

But the Yezak brothers say there's no extra pressure in kicking to raise awareness about a disease everyone wants to defeat.

Hayden hopes to make a difference, even after high school.

"I want to play D-1, and I think I can continue to help children through my college, or wherever I want to go," he says.  "Just continue to make those field goals for them."

Hayden has a goal of $5,000 for this season, and Hudson has a goal of $2,500.
