HOUSTON -

Two men were arrested after they they were spotted firing a gun on the North Loop Thursday night.

A Houston police officer driving in the opposite direction near the Shepherd exit saw a man hanging out of the passenger side of an SUV firing a gun in the air. That officer called for backup. 

Within minutes, police caught up with the SUV near the Irvington exit.

When the driver saw police were after him, he sped off. There was a short chase.

Police said the suspects ran several red lights. After about a mile, they pulled into a home in the 700 Block of Bennington near Irvington. 

Police were able to catch both men and arrest them.

The driver of the SUV was charged with felony evading and the passenger, accused of firing the gun, is charged with deadly conduct.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.
