HOUSTON -

Police said a tow truck driver helped them stop a wrong-way driver on the North Loop early Monday morning.

The driver was headed towards oncoming traffic near the Ella Boulevard exit around 4:00 a.m.

A tow truck driver saw the wrong-way Cadillac, called 911, and followed the driver.

Eventually, the driver realized he was going the wrong way.  He turned around and was eventually stopped by police on I-45 and Dallas in downtown Houston.

When police stopped him, he had 2 poodles in his car.  Those animals were taken into custody by animal control.

The driver was not arrested on the scene because he complained of stomach problems.

He was taken to the hospital where he will be treated for those issue and tested to see if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

No one was hurt.
