Grandson kills grandfather during family fight, police say

Liberty County man accused of stabbing grandfather to death during argument

SOUTH LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – A Liberty County man is accused of stabbing his grandfather to death during a family fight.

According to police, 24-year-old Preston William Rapman and his grandfather, Melvin James Linck, 66, became involved in an altercation around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after Linck demanded that Rapman move out of their home on CR 430 in south Liberty County.

Investigators said Rapman grabbed a steak knife at some point during the fight and stabbed his grandfather in the left upper chest area, killing him. Investigators pronounced Linck dead at the scene.

Rapman was arrested at the home and charged with murder. He was taken to the Liberty County jail.
