Toddler transported to hospital after dog attack in Stafford

HOUSTON – A toddler has been flown to the hospital after a dog attack in Fort Bend County.

The incident happened on Old Crest and Flaxseed Way in Stafford. Police say a woman was watching her grandson when the mixed breed dog suddenly attacked the child.

The little boy suffered severe injuries to his face and was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital via LifeFlight.

No word yet on his condition.

The City of Stafford Animal Control Officer took control of the dog and placed the animal in a vehicle.

Stafford police say the dog then died, but it wasn't shot or Tased. Animal Control says they aren't sure if the dog had a heart attack or not.

Neighbors tell Local 2 the animal wasn't a nice dog and they say the grandmother expressed a desire to get rid of it.
