HOUSTON -

Charges have been filed against the three suspects arrested after an armed robbery at a Family Dollar store in north Houston.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. Friday in the 6800 block of T.C. Jester Boulevard.

Houston police said officers responded to an alarm where they found three teens running away.

As Officer K. Lauro chased after the teenagers, one of them pointed a gun back at him and fired a shot. That's when police say fearing for his life, Officer Lauro fired his weapon.

Police said the three teens continued running and got away from the officer.

Officials said police then set up a perimeter and with the help of a police helicopter and a K-9 unit, all three teens were taken into custody.

Police said they found a pistol and money, taken from the store and its customers, at the scene.

The suspects are identified as 17-year-old Stefan Carrington, 19-year-old Patrick Evans and 19-year-old Edward Jamison. They are all charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Officer Lauro, who has been with the Houston Police Department since 2008,  was not injured during the incident.

This shooting is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions, which is customary with any officer-involved shooting.
