HOUSTON -

Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown to get a glimpse of the Rodeo Parade Saturday.

It is a Houston tradition for the entire family. The day started with 13,000 runners hitting the pavement for the 27th annual Conoco Phillips Rodeo Run.

"It is exciting," said runner Zoraida Guillo. "We get seven friends and all run together. It's fun, we just love it."

It's something that keeps runners coming back year after year.

"Just to see all of the cowboys and cowgirls around, and the parade and run, everything is a big nice package," Guillo said.

All of the registration fees benefit the rodeo's educational fund. This year they will receive a record $400,000. And as the runners crossed the finish line, the parade began.

Marching bands, dancers, elaborate floats and Houston royalty all made their way down the streets surrounded by a cheering crowd.

"This is our first time here, going to a parade, so we are not sure but we are hoping lots of people," said Zoe

Flores, a scholarship winner.

Even Local 2 crew got in on the action. But the real stars of the parade were all of the children watching the memorable show.
