Third beauty supply store robbed in one week

HOUSTON – Surveillance cameras captured video of thieves stealing thousands of dollars of hair extensions from a beauty supply store in north Houston Wednesday morning.

The crooks crashed a truck into the back of Sense Beauty Supply at around 2 a.m., creating a hole in the brick wall. The owner of the store, who didn't want to be identified by his full name, said he keeps the volume turned up on the store's security system. He woke up when he heard a loud bang.

"I woke up to a sound, and I heard a voice and the alarm turned on," said the store owner.

The group of crooks were inside for less than one minute, but the owner said they still got away with an estimated $8,000 of merchandise.

Houston police believe the burglary could be the work of the same group responsible for two other beauty supply break-ins within a one-week period.

The first happened on July 30, and the second theft took place on Aug. 2.

In both of those break-ins, thieves backed up a truck into the front of the business and stole thousands of dollars worth of human hair extensions.

Surveillance footage shows that in all three cases the thieves work in large groups.

The owner said while the criminals remain on the run, he and other beauty supply owners are on high alert.

Another unidentified store owner told Local 2 she is having difficulty sleeping as a result of the break-ins.
