Investigators are looking for a group of men who crashed a stolen vehicle into a north Harris County cell phone store and then stole more than two dozen cell phones.
According to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, the thieves later abandoned the vehicle and set it on fire.
Surveillance video from Cell Spot on Aldine Westfield near Hirschfield shows a white four door sedan crashing into the store just before 4 a.m. Thursday. Four men are then seen getting out of the vehicle and running straight for display cases that held the phones. The store's owner told Local 2 the thieves also got away with a cash drawer.
According to investigators, the same vehicle used in the burglary was located in a bayou near West Hardy, just miles away from the store. Firefighters put out the fire and then notified the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.
"We believe they live in the area... with where the vehicle was stolen and where it was dumped, it's pretty obvious they live in the area," said Lt. Dean Hensley, with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.
He says anyone who recognizes the men seen in the video should contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Cell Spot was closed all day Thursday because of the damage.
