Thieves steal cartons of cigarettes from NW Houston grocery store

HOUSTON – Authorities are looking for two robbers they said stole cartons of cigarettes from a grocery store in northwest Houston.

Police said it happened Jan. 7 just before 1 a.m. in the 1500 block of West 18th Street.

According to investigators, the robbers used a yellow crowbar and bolt cutters to break into the building and cigarette cabinets. One of the robbers then placed the stolen cigarettes into a black trash bag and fled the building. They robbers caused extensive damage to the store.

Authorities said the robbers were seen getting into a gold-colored four-door Nissan Altima with a missing front hubcap. The robbers are possibly responsible for many burglaries in the area.

One robber is around 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, 150 pounds and the other is around 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 150 lbs.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

Information that leads to an arrest or charges could earn a reward of up to $5,000.
