Thieves break into HISD school on Good Friday

HPD: Unclear if anything was taken

HOUSTON – School is out for Good Friday, but there were still people on a Houston Independent School District campus Friday morning. They weren't there to learn, but to steal, according to police.

Investigators said thieves broke into Brookline Elementary off the South Loop and Askew Street.

Officers responded to an alarm call, but when they arrived the crooks were already gone.

Houston and HISD police used a helicopter to search the area, but there was no sign of the thieves.

Officers at the scene said they could not tell if anything was taken. The school's principal or a teacher will have to help determine if anything is missing.
