Thief targets NW Houston auto shop twice in same weekend

HOUSTON – An auto shop in northwest Houston was targeted twice over the weekend. Both crimes were caught on camera.

It started outside the King Auto Collision Shop on West Tidwell Road and Antoine Drive. Someone used a broken shovel to pry open the perimeter fence.

After cutting a hole in the building, a man with his head covered made his way to the front desk.

Surveillance video shows him under the counter looking for something.

The shop manager says the suspect eventually cut the wire to the surveillance camera. But he was in for a surprise he didn't expect. He disabled the security system but didn't know the shop had a second security system that was operational.

That secondary system came in handy.

The crooks were back Sunday. Video shows them going through the garage trying to steal one of the vans inside and wheeling out expensive tools.

The shop owners do not know what all was taken at this time.
