Woman killed, man shot in car

HOUSTON – A woman died Wednesday when a couple was shot while inside their car in northeast Houston.

Houston police said the shooting occurred at 12:20 a.m. in a parking lot on Curry Road and Riner Street.

The man and woman had just left the man's apartment. Once they were inside the car, investigators said two men in black clothing walked up to the car and demanded cash, and the men then shot the couple.

The woman died in the car. The man, Damon McClain, was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital in serious but stable condition.

McClain's mother saw her son moments after the shooting and he asked if she was injured. She said the 31-year-old is a father of a boy and a girl.

"I kind of froze," said McClain's mother, Delores. "He said, 'Mama, I'm dying. Are you alright?' And I said 'yeah' and then I saw the blood."

Family members identified the female victim as Titisha Denise Williams, 22. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital. Williams leaves behind four sisters, a brother, and parents.

"It's hard to just believe that she's gone," said Williams' sister, Dionshae.

The suspects were wearing masks, police said. They fled on foot.
