Woman finds granddaughter's body inside apartment

HPD: Woman appeared to be beaten to death

HOUSTON – Homicide detectives are investigating after a 90-year-old woman found her 35-year-old granddaughter's body inside her southwest Houston apartment Wednesday morning.

The woman's body was found inside her apartment in the 2600 block of Lazy Hollow about 11:30 a.m. She was last seen alive on Saturday.

The woman suffered head trauma and appeared to be beaten to death. The woman's body was found in a bedroom, lying on the bed. There were signs of a struggle and the apartment had been ransacked, said police.

"We don't have any signs of forced entry," said Houston Sr. Police Off. Michael Miller. 'She was found by her grandmother today, who was extremely shocked and saddened to find her daughter in this situation."

Her name wasn't immediately released.

Neighbors described the woman as friendly but said she kept to herself.

"She always sat out at the pool," said Denise Prince. "She was like super nice and I come over and visit my friends and I'm like oh my God, what happened to her? I'm just so shocked. I cannot believe that."

Police identified the woman as Kathryn Greer Feagin on Thursday.

Anyone with information on the murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
