Train collides with truck accident scene

SPLENDORA, Texas – Two men are recovering in the hospital after a train collided with two trucks at an accident scene.

The Splendora Fire Department was called around 5:40 a.m. Saturday to tend to a two-vehicle crash at East River Road and Highway 59. A Ford F-150 and Dodge 3500 welding truck had wrecked on the railroad crossing east of the intersection.

Dispatchers tried to inform railroad officials, but it was too late. The doors were jammed in the Dodge truck, but the man made it out of his vehicle just as the train plowed into it.

Firefighters say the cab of the welding truck was ripped loose from the frame and was thrown into the air as high as the train locomotive.

Both drivers were transported to Kingwood Hospital and are in stable condition. Their identities have not been released.
