Trader Joe's opens in The Woodlands Friday

THE WOODLANDS, TexasTrader Joe's opened two stores in Texas Friday and The Woodlands is excited to get one of them.

The grand opening was held Friday at 8 a.m. The 13,500-square-foot store is located on Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl Road.

Some area residents said they couldn't wait for the store to open.

"I was up at 5 o'clock in the morning to make a sign," one shopper said. "We're so excited. I've been waiting five years."

The company said the store are full of stories, meaning every item in the store has its own virtues -- high-quality ingredients, great flavor or an extraordinary price.

The grocery store buys directly from manufacturers and is known for low-cost products. They take a name-brand product, remove the preservatives and artificial colors and put it under their label at a discounted price, store officials said.

Trader Joe's will open two more stores in the Houston area this year. One will be on Voss in the Memorial area and the other in the old Alabama movie theater on Shepherd.

Trader Joe's is accepting job applications for open positions.
