Thieves steal soldier's truck

Officials: Culprit caught on camera

HOUSTON – A father who left his family to serve his country in Afghanistan had his truck stolen just days after his departure.

Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey Johnson said he promised his Ford F-350 to his teenaged daughter, who is about to get her license. But just a few days after he left on Sept. 23 for training, then a deployment overseas, the Texas Air National Guard member said his truck was stolen from the Galena Park Independent School District administration building.

Officials said surveillance video showed the culprit stealing copper from a nearby business not long after he stole the truck.

The family is asking for help in tracking down the truck. It's sonic blue with a fiberglass bed topper, a Harley Davidson shield sticker in the middle of the rear window and Texas license plate No. BA97499.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
