THE WOODLANDS – A SWAT standoff has ended in The Woodlands with one woman dead and a man in custody.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said emergency crews were called out to a residence on Dellforest Drive for a disturbance Thursday afternoon.
At around the same time, deputies received another call from a nearby business that a woman had walked in saying she had been assaulted and that she had witnessed her boyfriend kill his mother.
Deputies determined the assault occurred at the Dellforest address, where they said they later found a woman's body.
Officials said Anne Christine McGuirt appeared to have a gunshot wound.
Deputies said they believed a suspect was inside the home with a handgun. SWAT and crisis negotiators were called in.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Stuart J. McGuirt, surrendered shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.
McGuirt is charged with murder.
His girlfriend was transported to a local hospital in good condition.
