Student taken from school without permission

Officials: Non-custodial parent took child off campus, case being handled as abduction

MAGNOLIA, Texas – Parents at a Montgomery County school are concerned about its security after finding out a student was taken from campus without permission.

The child was taken away from Ellisor Elementary School, 33040 Egypt Lane, in Magnolia, on Friday by someone without custody, officials said.

The school sent the following voicemail to parents after the abduction:

"This is Boyd Campbell, the principal of Ellisor Elementary. I want to make you aware of a situation that happened at our school today. A non-custodial parent of a student took their child off campus without permission. The situation is being treated as an abduction."

"I'm just totally shocked," said one parent.

Montgomery County Precinct 5 deputy constables said the school reported the abduction. According to deputy constables, the school said a young boy had disappeared and no staff members knew where he could have gone.

Investigators said they searched the school and spoke to the boy's mother, who believed his father may have taken him.

In a statement released to Local 2, the district confirmed the abduction and said officials are working with law enforcement to resolve the matter.

"I have a lot of trust in the school and the principal and believe they handled it as best as they possibly can," parent Tommy Crouch said.

Parents said school policy requires all guests to stop at the front office and show their identification before they can gain access to the children and the rest of the campus.

"Considering I have my 5-year-old triplets, my concern is … if anyone can just walk in and grab a child them, obviously we need to get more security at the school," parent Karen Pimienta said.

Authorities said the child was still considered missing on Monday. However, an Amber Alert has not been issued because the case is considered a custodial matter.

Precinct 5 deputy constables said they turned the case over to Montgomery County Sheriff's Office detectives on Monday.
