Student, bus driver taken to hospital after car hits bus

Officials say about 50 students from Sneed Elementary on bus at time of crash

HOUSTON – One student and a bus driver had to be taken to a hospital after a driver ran a red light and slammed into a school bus in southwest Houston.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. at Briarpark and Westpark.

A spokesperson from the Alief Independent School District said the bus driver and student were taken to the hospital mostly as a precaution.

The driver of the car was also taken, but the extent of his or her injuries is unknown.

About 50 students from Sneed Elementary were on the bus at the time of the crash.
