CHANNELVIEW, Texas – A clerk was wounded after being shot in a robbery at a Channelview store.
The shooting happened at Puff's Smoke Shop at 15707 East Freeway near Sheldon Road around 11:45 p.m. Monday.
Harris County deputies said a pair of suspects pulled up to the store in a Silver Dodge Charger. Both got out and deputies said they stormed the store.
Once inside, investigators said the men began shooting and demanding money. The clerk was behind the counter.
"The clerk was shot in the leg and transported to Hermann Hospital," said Sgt. John Hernandez with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "It's unknown if the suspects were shot. As of right now, we haven't had any suspects turn up at any hospitals yet."
According to officials, there was surveillance footage that deputies were looking through to get a better description of the suspects.
Deputies said the clerk underwent surgery on his leg and was expected to recover.
The victim's name was not released.
