Sketch released of attempted kidnapping suspect

HUMBLE – The Harris County Sheriff's Office is hoping a newly released sketch will help them find the man wanted in connection to the attempted kidnapping of 12-year-old boy in Humble.

The incident happened around 4:15 p.m. on November 6 as the boy was walking home from his school bus stop in the 11300 block of Canyon Shore Drive.

Authorities said the boy recently gave investigators a description of the man that was good enough to develop a sketch.

The boy told investigators a man in a pickup truck confronted him on his way home. The man told the boy to get into his truck.

Officials said the boy refused, and the man grabbed the boy's wrist. The boy managed to run away after swinging his backpack at the man, who was armed with a gun.

Authorities said the man followed the boy in his truck to a nearby neighborhood recreation center where the boy called his mother.

The  man then fled.

"We live in a safe neighborhood, there are always sheriffs here," said neighbor Sara Torres.

However, Torres said ever since the attempted abduction, she watches her kids like a hawk.

"I don't even let them walk, I don't even let them go down the street. If I'm not out here they're not out there," Torres said.

Officials describe the wanted man as about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a skinny build and has a tattoo on his right forearm of a knife through a skull with a rose flower on top of the skull. He is believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30 years with black hair and brown eyes. His truck is described as a black, four-door pickup. The make and model are unknown.

"I wouldn't be able to say I've seen him around here," Torres said. "I'm one of those parents who think about my neighbor's children as well, so I wouldn't want anything to happen to any of our kids."

Anyone with information on the identity and/or location of the man is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit at 713-967-5743 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
