Shot fired during attempted robbery of armored van in NE Houston

HOUSTON – Authorities are searching for a group of men who ambushed an armored van in northeast Houston during an attempted robbery.

Houston police say shortly after noon Friday four men swarmed an armored van that is used to do payroll cashing for employees at a steel plant in the 10600 block of  Needham.

One shot was fired into the back window of the van, but the window did not break. No one was injured.

Police say the men sped off in a green minivan to Wallisville and Oates Road where they transferred to a maroon SUV, abandoned the minivan and fled the scene.

Police are investigating.

No other details were immediately available.
