A man distracted the clerk while a woman started shoving bars of soap into her purse, police said.

When the shoplifters tried to leave the store, an employee stopped them.

That's when the woman bit him.

"He got bit on the arm. In the process of getting bit, the male suspect attacked him and then they got into a fight," M.T. Jackson with the Houston Police Department said.

Investigators said the two thieves fled after the attack and left behind the items they were trying to steal.
