Shark eggs to hatch next year at Houston Zoo

HOUSTON – The Houston Zoo is getting a little bigger now that a white spotted bamboo shark has laid eggs.

Video on the Zoo's YouTube channel shows a very tiny shark swimming around in its egg case.

The Zoo expects the eggs to hatch in about three months. Right now they are about four months old.

When they do hatch, the sharks will be about 5-6 inches long.

White spotted bamboo sharks are native to Indonesia. They are not an endangered species, but are classified as near threatened.

The sharks and the eggs are visible to the public in the Zoo's Kipp Aquarium.
