A woman who was unfamiliar with Highway 288 was involved in a rollover crash after she mistook the embankment for an exit ramp, according to Houston police.
The woman said she was driving southbound on Highway 288 at Alice Street around 12:45 a.m. Thursday when she saw what she thought was the exit ramp. It was not.

The woman drove up the embankment and crashed into a chain link fence at the top, then slid back down the wall and landed upside down.
The woman had to be extracted from the vehicle. She was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.
Police said there was no alcohol involved.
