HOUSTON – Police are searching for the gunman who opened fire on a man sitting in his car in a parking lot outside an apartment complex in southwest Houston.
Authorities found the victim around 12 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Ashford Santa Fe apartments on West Bellfort near Woodwind.

Officers said he was shot at least three times through the windshield while sitting in the driver's seat of his car. He got out and tried to run away, and collapsed.
The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Witnesses told police the shooter ran away from the scene.
