Police said Hodge demanded to know if they two were Christians then began cursing and making derogatory remarks about God. Investigators said the two tried to walk away, but Hodge grabbed his stepdaughter by the arm, picked up a rock and slammed it into her face. She suffered a severe laceration above her right eye.

Two men tried to intervene, but Hodge pulled a pocketknife and threatened to hurt them, police said. Hodge then went back to his home in the 1000 block of Carver, police said.

Police arrived a short time later and determined a child was also in the house with Hodge and that Hodge had been drinking heavily.

Investigators said they made several demands for Hodge to come out, but he was combative and belligerent. Police said they were eventually able to subdue Hodge.

Hodge has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond. He was also ordered to stay at least 200 feet away from his stepdaughter and cannot communicate with her.
