Police investigate smash-and-grab robbery at NE Houston restaurant

Burglars on the run

HOUSTON – Police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a Popeyes in northeast Houston.

On Monday around 3 a.m. police received a call to the restaurant on Lockwood Drive near Kelly Street.

When officers arrived, they said they found the front of the building smashed in and heavy water damage.

Firefighters were originally called to the scene due to the crash causing the sprinkler system to go off.

Police said it is unclear if the crooks got away with anything or what they used to smash into the building.
