PEARLAND, Texas - Skeletal remains found in Pearland in March were identified as belonging to Ramona "Mona" Dumas, a woman who had been missing since 2008, police said Tuesday.
On March 19, skeletal remains were found at a property in the 4600 block of Dixie Farm Road. After being sent to the University of North Texas for DNA analysis, the remains were identified as belonging to Dumas, a 48-year old black woman missing since 2008.
According to detectives, Dumas was last seen on Oct. 25, 2008, leaving a residence in the 4600 block of Maggie St in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Houston. Dumas' death has been ruled a homicide.
"Now that her family knows what happened to her, we need to find out who killed her and why," said Lt. Onesimo Lopez.
According to earlier reports, at the time of her death, Dumas was wearing a blue shirt, Old Navy flare jeans and size 6 white Reebok tennis shoes. A forensic anthropologist estimated she died one to three years ago.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Steve Weaver at 281-997-4154.
