Officials: Body of missing kayaker found in Cypress Creek

HOUSTON – Texas EquuSearch resumed its search Monday morning and found the body of a kayaker just a few yards from where he went missing in Cypress Creek.

Search crews from Texas EquuSearch, Precinct 4 Constables Office and The Harris County Sheriff's Department scoured the water and land around Cypress Creek near Cypresswood Drive Sunday Brian Conner.

He was last seen clinging to the side of his kayak after the craft capsized at around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Conner and his wife, Terri, had been kayaking in separate boats when Terri Conner said her husband suffered some kind of diabetic event and capsized his kayak.

She said she tried to help him, but the water was too deep and treacherous, and she could not use her oar to reach him and pull him in. She paddled to shore and called 911.

She said when she returned to the creek, he had vanished.

"I wish I wouldn't have left him but I could not get him up, I couldn't get him up," Terri Conner said.

On Sunday night, Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch told Local 2 Investigates that using side-scan radar, his men were able to pick up an image below the surface of the water of a shape that could be a human.

That's the area near where crews resumed their search Monday morning and found the body.
