As she was walking out towards the man changing the flat tire, investigators said another vehicle came along and smashed into the corner of her patrol car.

The force of the crash pushed the two parked vehicles together and pinned the man between both, crushing his legs.

The policewoman was standing next to her patrol and was bumped, authorities said.

Investigators said the driver responsible for the crash was visibly intoxicated at the time. He was arrested and charged with intoxication assault.

The officer was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The driver changing the flat tire was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with serious injuries to the lower half of his body.
