Observant wife, good police work help nab car thief

Houston police say the woman recognized her husband's stolen car

HOUSTON – Some good police work and a very observant wife helped officers arrest a suspected car thief Tuesday morning.

Houston police were called to a convenience store on Ley Road at Fitzhugh Street in northeast Houston just before 1 a.m. A woman told the responding officer she saw someone driving her husband's stolen car.

As they were talking, the stolen car reportedly passed the store again. The officer then got in his cruiser and chased the driver, who eventually bailed out of the vehicle and began running.

K9 officers say they found the man hiding in some bushes.
