Neighbor foils apparent burglary in east Houston

HOUSTON – A neighbor foiled an apparent burglary attempt early Friday morning in east Houston.

According to Houston police, the neighbor spotted a man kicking in the front door of an elderly lady's house. He knew she wasn't home, so he called authorities. Apparently, the neighbor startled the man and sent him running to his truck. He sped off without taking anything.

A tow truck driver in the neighborhood saw the suspect and chased after him. The suspect suddenly bailed out and ran. An HPD officer was close by, saw him running and grabbed him. Police said his truck was stolen. The suspect is facing charges for burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
