HOUSTON – Monday's high temperature is expected to be 96, but the heat index will bring temperatures around 105.
"That's the kind of heat where if you're elderly or a child, you shouldn't spend more than 15 minutes outside without taking a break," says Local 2 Meteorologist Britta Merwin.
There's also a chance for pop up showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon. Rain chances increase throughout the week.
A cold front that will bring 60 and 70 degree temperatures to some states will make its way to Texas Tuesday. The front is only expected to drop temperatures by a few degrees.
