HOUSTON - Maintenance workers are cleaning up the damage burglars left behind at an apartment complex in Midtown.
The thieves slipped into City Place Midtown Apartments on McGowen unnoticed by kicking in doors to steal computers, jewelry and cash inside.
Neighbors said at least four apartments were burglarized in a matter of hours, and worry they could be next.
"I'm concerned about our security," said resident Mohamed Belhedi.
Residents said this comes on the heels of another violent crime.
"I heard about the robbery last week," said resident Ernesto Leyva.
As a neighbor was heading into the building, residents said a robber pulled a gun.
Even with the security gates and locked hallway doors, Ernesto Leyva believes these recent crimes show apartment management needs to do more.
Leyva wants security cameras on all levels, not just the first floor, and better monitoring of unlocked doors.
"I think that's what they need to do if they want us to be here and they want us to pay the money that we're paying," Leyva said.
Local 2 spoke with a member of City Place management, who said they are looking at security options, but would not say more.
If nothing is done, some residents believe their homes will remain a target.
"If not the same people, maybe other people would be tempted to do this again," said Belhedi.
