HOUSTON – If you and your family are looking for a way to give back this Thanksgiving, volunteers are still needed to help deliver meals to senior citizens.
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston is hosting its 25th annual Houston Meals for the Elderly project on Thursday morning.

On Thanksgiving Day, volunteers will deliver more than 3,000 hot turkey meals to homebound seniors as part of the Meals on Wheels program.
Event organizers say in some cases, these volunteers are the only people the senior will see during the holiday.
"It's important to remember that this season is all about giving and helping others," said Warren Wenner, Interfaith Ministries director of Meals on Wheels. "Our Meals on Wheels seniors always appreciate the help from volunteers, but on Thanksgiving Day they are extremely grateful to see them at their footsteps with a traditional Thanksgiving meal and a smiling face.
More than 1,000 volunteers are needed to help make this program a success.
Event organizers say they have enough volunteers to deliver the meals, but still need help at the church. Back up drivers are also need in the event a volunteer that has already been assigned a route cancels.
Meals will be picked up Thursday morning between 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 5300 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77004.
