March of Dimes 'CineMama' app helps promote healthy pregnancies

HOUSTON – For many moms, it may seem like pregnancy goes by so fast, but now there's a high tech way to remember every moment forever.

In fact, thanks to the March of Dimes, there's an app for that!

Houston teacher Megan McClintock was elated to learn she was pregnant with her first child, Madelyn Mae.

"We were super excited when we found out that we were having a little girl," Megan said.

That's when a friend who works with the March of Dimes Houston told her about an app called "CineMama."

"I thought it was a neat way to document my pregnancy," Megan said. "I wanted to document my pregnancy and my growing belly anyways, so I used that and it's just a really cool app."

The app sends expectant moms reminders to take a belly photo every day.

The end result is a movie or slideshow customized with music and text you can share with loved ones and one day, your little one.

"It's crazy seeing your growing belly and knowing there's a baby in there," Megan said.

"The March of Dimes is all about healthy babies, helping moms have full term pregnancies and the CineMama app is a way to connect and help moms have a healthy pregnancy and document their pregnancy," explained Jessica Putallaz, March of Dimes Houston communications coordinator.

Along with week-by-week health information, the app also has a "My Diary" section to help mommies track milestones along the way.

"Whenever you feel their first kick or when you tell you family the good news or when you find out the gender, you can put those on there and it think that's really convenient for whenever you're making their baby book later," Megan said. "You know exactly when those things happened."
