Man & woman accused of trying to steal cooler full of venison

Police: couple also led officers on brief chase

SPRING VALLEY VILLAGE, Texas – A man and woman were arrested after allegedly leading officers on a brief police chase and burglarizing from garages.

The couple are also accused of attempting to steal a cooler full of venison, investigators said.

Early Monday morning, a Spring Valley Village Police Department officer followed a suspicious vehicle that sped away on Merlin Drive and Modiste Street.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle struck a curb, blowing two tires on Cedar Post Lane and Cedar Post Street.

When officers returned to Merlin Drive, they said they learned the suspected thieves were in the process of stealing a cooler full of venison from a vehicle in the driveway of a home.

Police say the male suspect, 49, has a lengthy arrest record and is currently on parole and was taken into custody.

The female suspect, 36, was also arrested. Charges of evading arrest and theft are pending.

In addition to the recovered cooler, investigators said additional items believed to be stolen were recovered from the vehicle.
