Man who shot at police while handcuffed charged

HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against the suspect officials said fired a gun hidden in his pants at police officers while he was handcuffed.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Thursday at the MAM Spa at 13662 Westheimer #B.

Police said 19-year-old Eric Tucker was taken into custody after officers responded to an aggravated robbery at the spa.

While handcuffed, Tucker pulled a handgun from his pants and shot at HPD Sgt. B. Foltz.

Foltz returned fire and the suspect ran away. While in the parking lot, Tucker then pointed his weapon at HPD Officer J. Ngar.

Ngar fired his gun back towards the suspect.

Tucker continued to run away from police, but was located a few blocks away with gunshot wounds to his arms and legs. He was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Tucker is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.

Houston police said Sgt. Foltz was sworn in as an officer in February 1994 and Officer J. Ngar was sworn in as an officer in April, 2008.  Both are assigned to the Westside Patrol Division.

Neither officers were hurt in the shooting.
