Man shot to death in front of his children on Christmas

Police say his girlfriend's teenage son pulled the trigger

HOUSTON – Police are investigating a shooting in northeast Houston where they say a teen shot and killed his mother's boyfriend.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on Bobby Burns Street.

Police said the teenage son shot and killed his mother's fiancé, identified by friends as 35-year-old Ronalee "Deandre" McGuire.

"I don't know who would kill somebody like that, " said Greg Brooks, a friend of the victim. "Deandre is a good person. He's a good person and it's crazy that someone would sit there and take his life."

Police said there were four children, between ages 8 and 14, inside the home at the time.  All of them were in the room when the shooting took place.

"The deceased was on his room in the back house here, sleeping and some children in beds sleeping next to him," said Mark Holbrook with the Houston Police Department. "He gets out of bed, he's having an argument with his fiancé and a black male enters and shoots him, and he's been pronounced dead here at the scene."

Police said after the shooting, the teenage suspect and his mother took off, and have not yet been caught.

No charges have been filed at this time.
