HOUSTON - Investigators said a man who was sitting on his porch in northeast Houston was shot and killed.
The shooting happened in front of Jimmy Earl Wooten's home in the 3200 block of Lee Street and Hailey Street just after 11 p.m. Monday.
Houston police two men approached Wooten and made unknown demands. One of the men, who was only a few inches away from Wooten, opened fire.
"Two black male suspects approached this male at one of the stoops of one of these houses. Shots were fired. They went in different directions and they were seen in a dark or navy Tahoe," said Sgt. Peg Jewell with the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division.
Wooten, 36, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died.
The motive for the killing was under investigation.
"We don't know the motive right now. It could be robbery or it could be a dispute," Jewell said.
