Man shot during robbery in front yard

Victim says suspects asked for directions before attack

HOUSTON – A man was shot when a pair of armed robbers attacked him in front of his northwest Houston home.

Police said the victim was sitting in his front yard with two others on Woodvine Drive near Highcrest Drive around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses said two men approached and asked the victim for directions before they attacked him. The robbers tried to rip the victim's chain off, and steal his other belongings.

During the struggle, one of the suspects shot the man. The bullet pierced his side.  The victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

The victim's name was not released.
