HOUSTON - Police have arrested a suspect charged in a burglary and assault of a man that later died from the result of the assault.
The suspect, Marcus Trahan, was charged with burglary with the intent to commit assault after breaking into the victim's home on February 14, 2013.
According to police, the victim, Ronald Boze, was at his home with a friend when Trahan began banging on the door.
Boze saw that Trahan was wearing a bandana over his face and was armed with a machete, and refused to open the door.
Police say Trahan broke down the door and assaulted Boze with his fists and machete and threatened the witness.
Trahan fled the apartment, but was arrested in the complex by responding police.
Boze was transported to the hospital where he was treated for large lacerations to his hands and rib fractures.
Boze was released from the hospital and found dead in his apartment nine weeks later.
An autopsy determined that Boze had died as a result of injuries sustained during the assault.
Investigators will represent the case to Harris County district attorney's office in light of Boze's death.
