Man accused of shoplifting with children at Baytown Walmart

BAYTOWN – A man has been accused of taking two small children with him as he shoplifted at a Baytown Walmart.

Devon Glen Colquitt, 22, was charged with theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

A loss and prevention officer at a Walmart in the 4900 block of Garth Road saw Colquitt with two boys, 3 and 5 years old, on Saturday at 3:15 p.m..

According to police, the loss and prevention officer saw Colquitt unwrap two Black and Decker Matrix 20-volt cordless drills.  The drills are valued at $159.76.  He then placed the drills into a backpack, and exited the store with the two boys without paying for the merchandise, police said.

The loss and prevention officer detained Colquitt and recovered the drills from the backpack. Police were called to the scene and Colquitt was transported to the Baytown city jail.

An officer took the two children, who were Colquitt's nephews, to the Baytown Police Department.  The children were later released to their father.
