Man accused of impersonating sheriff's deputy

HOUSTON – A man is accused of impersonating a sheriff's deputy after a minor car crash in southeast Houston.

Indelfonso Torres, 35, is charged with impersonating a public servant.  

On March 17, authorities say Torres was involved in a car accident with another man in the in the 8600 block of Almeda Genoa. 

According to court documents, Torres refused to provide the man with his insurance and told him the car was a county car.  The vehicle Torres was driving had a sheriff's sticker on it.

Officials say Torres also showed what appeared to be a badge and a gun.

Torres was later arrested. He has posted a $5,000 bond.
