Man, 61, suffers life-threatening injuries in hit-and-run

Man hit while walking across the street

HOUSTONPolice are looking into a chilling video of a 61-year-old man walking with a cane who was hit by the driver of a white SUV.

It happened at the busy intersection of Hillcroft and High Star at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.

The man was trying to cross Hillcroft outside the crosswalk in the middle of the street, when the Toyota 4-Runner that was headed north on Hillcroft hit that man, sending him and his cane 30 feet down the road.

Surveillance video from a nearby gas station shows that the driver just kept on driving without stopping to render aid.

Now, Houston police are looking for the driver of that white Toyota SUV, with the Texas license plate number, 258 3Q 75.

Anyone who has seen that SUV is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, or call The Houston Police Department's Hit And Run Unit at 713-247-4065.

Police said the man who was hit by the car was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The name of the victim is not being released until all family members can be notified.
