Last suspect wanted in Galveston armed robbery gang turns himself in

GALVESTON, Texas – Galveston police said the last suspect wanted in connection to several armed robberies turned himself in early Thursday morning. 

According to police, 18-year-old Malik Hunter walked into the Galveston County Jail around 5:30 a.m. He had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Robbery.

Galveston's police chief, Henry Porretto, said that Hunter "undoubtedly felt the collective and cooperative pressure of the community, the media, and the Police Department, and knew he had no other choice than to turn himself in". 

According to police, Hunter is linked to the Omega Organized Criminal Street Gang, a group that is closely affiliated with the nationally recognized Crips gang.

Galveston police said they arrested at least 15 other juveniles who are members or associated with the Omega gang.
